Short Description:

  • Manitoba Identity and Access Management (IAM) system provides citizen authentication currently limited to the healthcare space, with 40-50% adoption (~48% of 850,000 population). 
  • In 2025, Manitoba launched the MB Wallet app (available free on Apple App Store and Google Play), which allows offline access to stored digital credentials. The Digital Health Card, stored in the MB Wallet, is a verifiable credential containing the resident’s name, PHIN, and health coverage information. Residents can request a plastic card, digital card, or both; existing paper card holders can request a digital card at any time. Users remain in control of when to use their credentials and what information they choose to share.
