Auto Dealers and Retail Finance: Streamlined IDV
Why this matters
Auto retail is going digital – and so is fraud. Dealers and retail auto finance providers are now expected to verify every customer’s identity quickly and accurately, often remotely and across multiple locations and jurisdictions, without adding friction to the sale or falling short on compliance.
The challenge
The hard part isn’t whether to verify identity; it’s knowing who to trust to do it. Verification providers vary widely in rigour, and there’s no obvious way for a dealership to tell which ones meet a recognized, independently tested standard.
How DIACC helps
As Canada’s only neutral, not-for-profit forum dedicated to digital trust and verification, DIACC gives automotive dealers and retail auto finance providers peer- and publicly-reviewed guidance to build confidence in their identity verification and onboarding.
DIACC develops the Pan-Canadian Trust Framework (PCTF) – a risk and assurance framework that sets clear, auditable criteria for digital trust – and operates the PCTF Certification Program, which independently tests providers against those criteria. DIACC does not provide or operate IDV services itself.
