The report, based on discussions from DIACC’s June 2026 Executive Workshop in Fredericton, the report finds that technology is no longer the primary obstacle to adoption. Instead, governance, ownership, interoperability, and demonstrating practical value remain the key challenges.
The report highlights several priorities for moving forward:
- Start with practical, high-value use cases and willing partners
- Establish clear ownership for cross-jurisdictional challenges
- Build interoperability rather than pursue forced uniformity
- Address AI-era threats, including deepfakes and injection attacks
- Design for inclusion, accessibility, and citizen control
The report also explores how the Pan-Canadian Trust Framework (PCTF) can provide shared trust and data-assurance standards to help credentials move across jurisdictions while respecting regional differences.
